Course Description

Mastering Control – A Motorcycle Rider Skills Lab (RSL) is a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course. This class is for licensed motorcycle riders interested in developing and maintaining riding skills.  The goal of this course is to grow your confidence in your riding ability.  You will practice foundational riding skills on your own motorcycle.

Ideal for Motorcycle Basic Rider class graduates looking to apply their new skills to their own motorcycle or for riders who have recently gotten back into riding after years off.

This course will focus on low-speed skills that is the perfect next step for licensed new riders or for those who want to improve their skills.  This course is primarily on the range with some classroom instruction.

Students must provide proof of insurance and sign a waiver when riding their own motorcycle.

IMPORTANT NOTE!!

Our courses are run through the Self-Supporting divisions of the Continuing Education Programs. This means that your tuition fee will not be refunded if you fail to show up for class, or if you fail to complete the course. The Rider Skills Lab is conducted at a pace that results in successful completion for most riders. However, if you experience significant difficulty or become a safety risk to yourself or others, you will not be permitted to continue to ride.

PLEASE NOTE: Payment for continuing education classes is expected at the time of registration, as the classes are on a first-come, first-served basis. All costs must be paid for a student to be officially registered.

**NOTE: If you are 16 or 17 years old, you will have to register by completing a Continuing Education registration form.  Contact the Registrar’s Office at [email protected] or 704-922-6232 to request a Continuing Education registration form or you may register in person at the Dallas Campus.

Pre-Requisites

  • Students should be at least 16 years old. Students under 18 must have a signed waiver form from a parent or guardian.  The waiver must be signed by the parent or guardian in front of the class instructor on the first day (Saturday) of class.  If you are unable to come to the first day of class a notarized form will be required acknowledging your signature and that you are the underage student’s parent or guardian.  An underage student will not be allowed to take the class if the above requirements are not met.

What to bring –

  • Your personal DOT-Approved helmet – loaner helmets are available.
  • Your personal eye protection, such as sunglasses IS REQUIRED
  • Long-sleeved shirt made of denim or other heavy material pants should be worn. Sleeves must be rolled down at all times, per Motorcycle Safety Foundation rules. IS REQUIRED
  • Over the ankle boots ARE REQUIRED
  • Your personal full-finger gloves ARE REQUIRED
  • Rain gear (if needed). Class is held rain or shine
  • Food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed in the classroom on Saturday and Sunday

Refund Policy

If a student officially drops from a class or classes before the 10 percent date of the class(es), a 75 percent tuition refund will be given for the class(es) dropped. A 100% refund will be made if the student drops from the class prior to the class start date. No refunds will be given after the 10 percent date. If a course fails to materialize, refunds are automatically processed. (The refund policy is subject to change. Refunds of tuition will be issued in accordance with the current state and college policy.) To request a refund or transfer, please email [email protected] or call 704-922-6232.

Our certified rider/coaches are authorized to remove anyone from the course who might pose a danger to themselves or others although we do not anticipate this happening.  Additionally, no visitors are allowed on the range. Please do not invite anyone to come and watch, especially minors.
