Influenza/ COVID Vaccine Information

While Gaston College is not mandating that students be vaccinated against influenza and COVID, it may be a requirement for many of our clinical sites, and we must abide by any safety protocols or requirements put into place by our external agencies with which we partner for clinical rotations. Proof of vaccination will be required, if needed. If vaccination is required for influenza and/or COVID-19 due to clinical compliance requirements of the clinical site, we can work with each student on a case-by-case basis. A declination form for the Influenza vaccine can be signed; however, the student will be required to wear a mask for the entire duration of their clinical hours.

PHM-3002 Central Sterile Processing – 220 hours

All students will be required to meet clinical compliance (COMPLIO) before clinical field training.
Class space is limited and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please be advised that clinical hours may vary between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm to meet the needs for maximum class capacity and or clinical site availability. Attendance is required for clinical, or time must be made up.

*Clinicals could be the time listed above or evenings/weekends, depending on the facility. We cannot give a guarantee of when these will be offered, but something could be worked out once class starts.

Online will begin on 5/18, and login information/instructions will be sent before class starts. Access will not be available until the first day of class. Theory and lab will begin on 5/21 in the David Belk Cannon Building on the Dallas Campus.  Clinical rotation will begin on 7/20 and will be held off-site at a pre-assigned local medical facility.

Pre-Requisites:

• Students must be at least 18 years of age (by the first date of the clinical portion of the course)
• Students must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Refund Policy

If a student officially drops from a class or classes before the 10 percent date of the class(es), a 75 percent tuition refund will be given for the class(es) dropped. A 100% refund will be made if the student drops from the class prior to the class start date. No refunds will be given after the 10 percent date. If a course fails to materialize, refunds are automatically processed. (The refund policy is subject to change.
