About Pitch Forward

Pitch Forward is a small-business pitch competition designed to support emerging entrepreneurs ready to start or grow their businesses. The program helps small business owners refine their business models and compete for funding.

Participants apply to present their business idea or existing venture to a panel of judges for a chance to win funding and business support. The winners will receive prize funding to be invested directly in their business.

In addition to potential financial awards, participants gain well-rounded business knowledge, exposure, and an opportunity to build valuable connections within the business community.

How to apply

Application must be submitted by Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Applicant Eligibility (YOU MUST MEET ALL REQUIREMENTS)

You must:

Be a resident of Gaston or Lincoln County
Plan to operate your business in Gaston or Lincoln County
Be 18 years of age or older
Be ONE of the following:
- Pitching a new business that has not yet generated income or incurred expenses, OR
- An existing business proposing a new revenue stream (new concept, idea, or innovation). Business revenue must be less than $200,000 annually.

Participants are expected to:

Attend four weekly in-person education sessions on the Gaston College Dallas Campus. Classes will be held on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. in April 2026.

- Pitch with Confidence: Preparing a Winning Business Pitch (4/16)
- Market with Purpose: Reaching and Growing Your Customers (4/23)
- Know Your Numbers: Financial Foundations and Projections (4/30)
Attend two business counseling sessions with the Gaston College Small Business Center. Appointments can be virtual.
Pitch their business idea on Thursday, May 7, 2026. The event starts at 9 a.m.
