Planning to Transfer

Many students come to Gaston College to get started on their general education courses and transfer on to a university. But, do you know what you are planning to do when you get there?

Understanding your career goals ahead of time can be the key to transferring successfully. Many colleges and universities want you to have specific courses taken within your first two years so that you can move into your upper-level courses when you transfer. For instance, to start in junior-level coursework in Biology, you need to be sure to take your basic Biology courses first in your time here at Gaston College.

Faculty and academic advisors can help you make a decision about which courses to take, but you have to know what your career or major goal is first! The earlier you have a career goal, the easier it is to choose the right courses and to transfer to your college of choice without wasting any time or money.
