2023 Grad Spotlight: William Bostick
William Bostick will transfer to UNC-Charlotte in fall 2023 after having graduated with an associate in science degree from Gaston College in May. William participated in the 49erNext program, a Transfer Admission Guarantee agreement between the institutions.
He plans to study exercise science at UNC-C with the intention of enrolling in a physician assistant program after earning his bachelor’s degree. He chose to attend UNC-C “…because of the location and the amazing bridge program that I am lucky to be a part of,” he said. “I also have heard very good things from people that go to or have gone to UNC-C.”
When the agreement between Gaston College and UNC-C was signed in 2020, Dr. John Hauser, president of Gaston College, said, “Our goal at Gaston College is to make sure students from all backgrounds have equity in access, equity in learning, and equity in success.”
William believes that goal has been met. Attending Gaston College has been a great experience for him, and he considers the 49erNext program one of the most beneficial parts of his college experience and his preparation for the future. He hopes that future includes a career in sports after he becomes a physician assistant.
“I had a wonderful time at Gaston College,” he said. “If I ever needed anything I had a good and friendly advisor to guide me through. I hope to always motivate and inspire people and I’m very grateful for everyone that has made my time at the College and in the 49erNext program amazing.
