Student Spotlight: Logan Faulkenberry

Gaston College Student Logan FaulkenberryLogan Faulkenberry already knows that NC State University is on his educational horizon after he graduates from Gaston College in May 2024. He is participating in the Community College Collaboration (C3) program, an agreement with NC State that guarantees admission to Gaston College students who meet certain requirements.

A native of Lowell, N.C., Logan started attending Gaston College as part of the College Now program while he was in high school, and he became a full-time student in fall 2022. He is pursuing an Associate in Engineering degree and intends to major in Aerospace Engineering at NC State. After earning his four-year degree, he plans to continue on for a master’s degree or perhaps a Ph.D.

“My career goal is to become an engineer in the Aerospace Industry, designing aircraft components for companies such as Curtiss-Wright and Lockheed Martin as well as for NASA,” said Logan. He is currently interning with Curtiss-Wright.

In addition to participating in C3, Logan is in the SPARC program, which helps Gaston College students succeed in STEM-related majors with hands-on classes, mentors, research experiences, and scholarships. “My entire experience at Gaston College and with C3 and SPARC has been nothing short of excellent,” said Logan. “I would like to thank everyone who has guided me on the path to making my dreams a reality.

As Logan works toward his dream career, he shares this quote from Albert Einstein: “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.”
