1. I applied on XX/XX/XXXX date for Pirate Promise, when will I find out if I got in?
Answer: You will find out after the Fall/Spring/Summer deadline when we receive verification from your community college. This process typically takes 4-6 weeks after the application closes.

2. When should I apply to Pirate Promise?
Answer:. We suggest applying to Pirate Promise as soon as you begin your courses at your CC. That way, we can provide transfer resources and ECU benefits sooner!

3. What do I have to do to apply?
Answer:. Simply fill out the Pirate Promise application when it is open– create your Pirate Promise portal, then complete the application and submit! No additional documents are needed.

4. What are the approved transfer degree programs for Pirate Promise?
Answer:. They are linked here and listed on the Pirate Promise website.

5. What do I do if I am not eligible for Pirate promise anymore? (student is not eligible if: they are not a full time student, do not have a 2.5 GPA, or are no longer enrolled in a transfer pathway)
Answer:. You will be placed on probation for 1 semester – if you are ineligible the second semester, you will be withdrawn from the program.

6. When can I get my ECU 1 card?
Answer:. You can get your ECU 1 card in person after you have received an email that you have been verified in the Pirate Promise program.

7. I am in my last semester at my community college – can I still apply to Pirate Promise?
Answer:. The program is intended for students in their first year at the community college so that we can provide resources and transfer assistance as well as ECU perks! However, you can still apply to ECU and the transfer team is happy to help you with anything you need.

8. I am in Pirate Promise but I want to apply to ECU without graduating from my CC with my degree – can I do that?
Answer:. You can transfer to ECU any time, but you can not utilize the Pirate Promise fee waiver unless you have graduated from your institution with your degree.

9. How do I use my benefits?
Answer:. See benefits explained above.

10. How do I apply to ECU as a student in the Pirate Promise program?
Answer:. a. Traditional transfer student – You will need to apply as a transfer student and make sure to email piratepromise@ecu.edu to request your fee waiver.
b. Early College Student – If you are graduating from high school with college credit, you are still considered a freshman applicant and will apply to ECU as a freshman. However, you can use your high school coursework and test scores or your college coursework for review for admission to ECU.
c. Career & College Promise students – If you are graduating from high school with your associate’s degree, you are still considered a freshman applicant and will apply as a freshman.
