Welcome to Arts and Sciences

The purpose of the Arts and Sciences Division of Gaston College is to provide quality instructional opportunities in general education for students who intend to transfer to senior institutions and for students in the technical and occupational programs.

The college transfer program at Gaston College offers courses that are equivalent to those offered during the first two years at four-year institutions. Students who transfer from Gaston College pursue majors such as Architecture, Art, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, English, Fine Arts, Foreign Language, History, Marketing, Mathematics, Music, Nursing, Psychology, Science, Social Work, and others. Students may enroll in a 60 – 61 credit hour sequence and earn the Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Arts Teacher Preparation (AATP), Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts (AFA – VA), Associate in General Education- Nursing (AGE-N), Associate in Science (AS), Associate in Science Teacher Preparation (ASTP), or the Associate in Engineering (AE) degrees. The Arts and Sciences Division also includes Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degrees, Diplomas, and Certificates in Early Childhood Education and Biotechnology.
