Transcript Guidelines – Employment

Gaston College must comply with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges’ (SACSCOC) requirements for maintaining academic credentials for all faculty who work at the College.

Official transcripts and other credentialing certifications are required for certain positions. For the employment application process, unofficial copies of transcripts and other credentialing certifications are permitted.

Official documents must be sent directly from the issuing institution or agency to Gaston College. In some cases, electronic documentation will be accepted. Transcripts must be legible, indicate degree or certificate awarded, and the date the degree or certification was conferred.

It is the employee’s responsibility to order official transcripts to be issued to Gaston College within 15 days of hire. Failure to provide official transcripts and other credentialing certifications may result in the extension of any applicable probationary period and/or disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.

Please note that you may be required to pay a fee for this service from the institution you are requesting the transcript from.
