WSGE 91.7 FM Kicks-Off Spring 2021 Fund Drive

“Music that Matters,” is this year’s theme for WSGE 91.7 FM, spring fund drive which will focus on playing genres and artists that are not commonly heard on commercial broadcast stations.

According to Station Manager, Cathis Hall, “WSGE listeners rave about the diverse mix of music that is played on the station and truly appreciate our emphasis on supporting Carolina musicians. Throughout 2020, songs were intentionally added to our playlist that were positive, uplifting or increased our consciousness of the Covid-19 pandemic, racial unrest and other issues that we faced in this country,” said Hall.

The award-winning radio station at Gaston College is currently accepting donations for their spring fund drive. The station must raise $60,000 to support operation expenses and equipment upgrades.

WSGE has been recognized as one of the best radio stations in the region when it comes to Carolina Beach music. The station has won the Carolina Beach Music Award as FM Station of the Year six times, in 2011 and each year from 2015 through 2019.

In addition, the station is a proud community partner that supports a variety of activities. Recently, WSGE was the media sponsor for The Scouting for Food Drive held by Scouts of Pack 28, Troop 28, and Troop 1028 to collect canned food and non-perishable items to benefit Dallas Christian Ministries to help families in need.
