TRiO Student Support Services offers a community where students can enjoy each other’s support both personally and academically. Service projects are organized and fulfilled by TRiO Students, and they contribute ideas, organize, and participate in various cultural events throughout the year. Open House and other social gatherings are led by our own students. The encouragement shared within the TRiO community will help others while gaining success in your own academic career.

Academic Advising

Upon acceptance into the program, each student is assigned an advisor, which the student will meet with periodically. The advisor will work closely with students and monitor their academic progress throughout their academic careers at Gaston College.

Financial Literacy

TRiO offers an array of Financial Literacy workshops geared towards assisting students in securing the maximum amounts of financial aid. Workshops are also geared towards helping students maximize their personal wealth.

Transfer Planning

Once students earn their degrees, TRiO fully promotes the transfer process to a four-year college or university. Through assessments, students can explore career interests, personality traits, and learning styles. Advisors provide assistance in completing admissions applications and arrange visits to various colleges and universities.

Volunteer and Community Involvement

TRiO students can choose from a variety of community outreach opportunities each year. This is a dynamic aspect of the TRiO Program; students are encouraged to lead and engage in one or more community service projects. Participation in community projects is an essential element of an individual’s academic journey.

Cultural and Social Events

TRiO students are privileged to take part in a variety of activities each academic year for free or at a minimum cost.
