New Student Advising

After applying to Gaston College all students will be assigned to an academic advisor based on their program of study. Advisors contact their students to provide reminders and instructions on how to schedule an appointment.

As a new student, you are required to meet with your assigned advisor before registering for classes. New student orientation must be completed online prior to meeting with your advisor. The link for orientation and a welcome survey will be sent to your Gaston College email account (check your promotions or spam folders if you don’t see it in your inbox). All new students will be assigned an access date for registration after completing the orientation. New students can then register for classes on or after their assigned access date for registration.

During your first meeting you should expect your advisor to talk to you about the completed welcome survey, discuss technology used at Gaston College, review your program of study, and guide you through the registration process.
