Johnson C. Smith University – 2+2 Connect Program

JOHNSON C. SMITH UNIVERSITY (JCSU) 2+2 CONNECT: A DIRECT-ENTRY ADMISSION PROGRAM

The Direct Admission Program is designed to guarantee Gaston College graduates admission to the undergraduate program at Johnson C. Smith University. This is the first such agreement between Gaston College and a historically Black college or university. 

BENEFITS

In addition to the student services you receive at Gaston College, 2+2 Connect students receive these benefits:

• a direct-entry pathway upon completion of a transfer degree or an applied program for which an articulation agreement exists.
• dual advising from both Gaston College and JCSU advisors
• regular credit evaluation by JCSU advisors. Students will receive transfer credit for courses taken at Gaston College according to the equivalency list.  To receive credit for a course, a student must have earned a “C” or better. 
• Early access to JCSU services and campus activities for students in the direct admission program 
• maximized opportunity for success at both institutions

ELIGIBILITY

Requirements to Participate in the 2+2 Connect Program

• be a currently enrolled student at Gaston College in a degree-seeking capacity
• complete the 2+2 Connect program inquiry form
• be in good standing at Gaston and other institutions attended (academic and otherwise)
• demonstrate good citizenship and conduct
• earn and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at Gaston College
• earn an Associate’s degree from Gaston in a college transfer program or in an applied program for which an articulation agreement exists
• Students must complete an associate degree at Gaston College in the academic year immediately preceding their desired entry term (fall or spring) at JCSU
• meet all admissions requirements of JCSU, including completion of the application, submission of official transcripts from all institutions attended, and a written personal statement. 

Scholarship Opportunity

• Each student who remains eligible during their time at Gaston College and successfully submits the application to JCSU will receive at least $8,000 in aid to attend JCSU
• To be eligible, students need to enroll in a full-time course load at JCSU
