How has COVID 19 affected the libraries?
Our hours of operation have changed. Please see our library hours webpage for a schedule for each semester. We have re-positioned seating to offer social distancing. We encourage face coverings, but if you do not have one you can ask at the circulation desk for one. Please see our class guide on college level research to find more information on how to search for books, articles, videos and other resources electronically.
Where and how do I pay for library fines?
Library fines may be paid in person at any campus library. All items must be returned before we can accept payment. If items have been lost/damaged you will be responsible for the replacement cost plus a processing fee. If you are paying with a credit or debit card, you may call the Morris Library at 704-922-6359 during normal business hours to make payment over the telephone.
How do I get a library card?
Please show a picture ID at the circulation desk at any Gaston College library location. You will then fill out a short form and you will have your library card. This will allow you to checkout materials
How do I login to library databases?
When prompted by our EZ Proxy service you will use the same login as your network login which should be the same as your original Blackboard login.
Where can I print and photocopy?
The library has printers available and connected to each computer station. There is a copy machine located in each facility. Students will use their PaperCut Management system to make prints and copies.
Can I check out books from other colleges?
Currently the ability to borrow books from other locations is suspended. To borrow books from other locations you can either place a hold on an item through our library catalog or use ILL.
What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?
The Gaston College Libraries provide interlibrary loan services for students, faculty and staff. If we don’t have the material you need, we can borrow from other colleges, universities, and public libraries. This service is available to Gaston College students, faculty, and staff. Community patrons will be referred to the local public library.
How long is the checkout period?
Books checkout for 3 weeks and A/V materials check out for 1 week.
What are reserve materials and where are they?
Instructors that wish to share materials with their classes can leave items on reserve at the circulation desk. These items generally have various due dates or are in-house-use only.
Can I check out a laptop?
You can checkout a mini-laptop at the circulation desk for in-house-use only.
How to I get a Gaston College ID card?
The Campus Police department issues Gaston College ID cards. You will find more information here.
Where do I go to purchase textbooks?
