Students work in fields that coincide with their program of study. Review <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gaston.edu\/workbased-learning-placement\/students\/eligible-programs\/\">list of eligible programs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are several benefits to offering Work-Based Learning at your company:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It saves on personnel recruitment costs.<\/li>\n<li>It gives you the opportunity to evaluate a prospective employee\u2019s aptitude and capabilities before making a long-term commitment.<\/li>\n<li>It develops students who become ambassadors for your company.<\/li>\n<li>It allows you to partner in the educational process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Work opportunities can be paid or on a volunteer basis; however, there are federal guidelines for unpaid internships at \u2018for profit\u2019 companies. See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/whd\/regs\/compliance\/whdfs71.htm\">Fact Sheet 71<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<p>As a Work-Based Learning employer, you are responsible for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interviewing and selecting the WBL student for your company. We can provide a candidate pool, if necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Providing an opportunity for the WBL student to perform tasks related to their program of study.<\/li>\n<li>Providing supervision at the work site.<\/li>\n<li>Allowing Gaston College faculty and\/or WBL staff to conduct on-site visits with the student and their supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"#top\">Back to top<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><a id=\"recruiting\"><\/a>On Campus Recruiting<\/h3>\n<p>Employers are welcome to host recruiting events on the Gaston College campuses.&nbsp;
