The annual WSGE 91.7 FM Socks for Seniors drive is underway

The start of the 2017 holiday season also marks the start of the fourth annual Socks for Seniors drive, sponsored by WSGE 91.7 FM, the award-winning, non-commercial public radio station that broadcasts from its studio on the Dallas campus of Gaston College.WSGE 91.7fm

The Socks for Seniors drive collects new socks, gloves, and toiletries for people in need during the holiday season. In 2016, over 1,000 pairs of socks, as well as other items, were donated and the items were delivered to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, a local homeless shelter, and the Salvation Army. The station will accept contributions to the 2017 Socks for Seniors drive now through Thursday, December 14.

“Thanks to our listeners’ generosity in supporting our Socks for Seniors drives, WSGE has been able to bring a little warmth, comfort, and holiday cheer to those who need it the most,” said Cathis Hall, WSGE station manager. “We’re looking forward to receiving their donations again so we can do the same this year.”

Donations of socks, gloves, and toiletries can be brought to the WSGE studio in the Craig Building on the Dallas Campus of Gaston College. The donations can also be mailed to the station. Packages should be addressed to:
