Gaston College’s New President Engages the College Community on Day One

Dr. John Hauser is the new president at Gaston College. He is the seventh president at Gaston College.

Dr. John Hauser (pronounced Who-zer) began his new tenure today as the seventh President of Gaston College.

He was appointed to the presidency in March by the College’s Board of Trustees. The former President of Carteret Community College, he brings over thirty years of leadership and administrative experience to Gaston College.

“I’m honored to be joining such an exceptional college that is committed to student success,” says Dr. Hauser. “This is an exciting and critical time for all community colleges in North Carolina and around the country. I’m delighted to start a new chapter in the College’s rich history of providing excellent educational opportunities and quality life experiences for students emphasizing technology and communication. I look forward to working with the Board of Trustees, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community.”

Jasmine Cox, Process Coordinator for Testing at the Textile Technology Center discusses with Dr. Hauser what takes place in the Dye Lab. The Textile Technology center is located at the Kimbrell Campus in Belmont.

The new president is a dynamo when it comes to fostering positive, two-way communication within the College and in the community. He says he won’t be shy when it comes to reaching out and listening to and working with people.

Starting this morning, Dr. Hauser demonstrated his commitment. After receiving a warm welcome from several members of the College Community, he and members of the College’s leadership team immediately began touring and meeting faculty, staff, and students at Gaston College’s three campuses and the Textile Technology Center in Gaston and Lincoln counties.

As President Hauser and others toured classroom buildings, they wore face coverings, practiced social distancing, and took other safety precautions in light of COVID-19.
