Huskins Student Projects
ACA 118 Fund Raiser Information – Spring 2009 (Ashbrook High School)
For their class project, the ACA 118 class at Ashbrook High School chose to conduct a candy sale with the proceeds going to the Gastonia Salvation Army Boy’s and Girl’s Club. The students sold Skittles, Starburst, and Blow Pops for a two-week period. $342.00 was raised.
Comments from the students included, “I liked having the opportunity to raise money for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club. I liked helping those who are less fortunate than I am in any way I can. Although we turned it into a mini competition, I think we all enjoyed the project and the outcome of helping children” (Essence Miller), and “I enjoyed doing the candy sale, especially for a cause like the Boy’s and Girl’s Club. When I was younger, I attended the Boy’s and Girl’s Club, and it was always a blessing and a big help to receive things from others” (Destine’e Grastley).

Portion of the Thank you note received from the Ronald McDonald House (submitted by Kay Walker, English Instructor)
“Thank you for the incredible donation you have made to the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte! The $535.00 will go a long way in helping us open our doors next year so that we can support the families of seriously ill and injured kids…I hope the candy sale was a fun experience. I hope you’ll keep our House in mind in the coming year—we would love to count you among our volunteers when our doors open. Many Thanks!” Ari Harris, Community Outreach Director
