Why do I have to have a criminal background check, drug screen and fingerprinting?

Many medical facilities with whom we affiliate for clinical internships now require criminal background checks, drug screen and fingerprinting of all employees, and students rotating through their facilities. In order to comply with their requirements and because we do not always know where students will be placed for observation and/or clinical rotation experiences, we require each of our students to submit a current criminal background check, and fingerprinting upon entry into the program. A drug screen will be required prior to the clinical internship experience.
