Admission Information
In order to be eligible for enrollment in courses, students must first be admitted to Gaston College.
Students can fill out an application on-line at: or pick on up at the Admissions Office on campus.
You may apply for admission to the college online. Follow the links from the college homepage.
Call (704) 922-6214 if you have any questions on admissions. A catalog and complete registration

Registration
Distance education and on-campus students can register or change their schedule using the telephone
registration system. Specific registration information is located in each semester's class schedule and
on the Internet at: http://www.gaston.cc.nc.us/students/registration.asp
If you are a current, on-campus student at Gaston College, you may register via telephone registration
after obtaining a personal identification number (PIN). Internet courses are sections 62, 63, and 80.
Look at your registration carefully for the correct section number. College-by-Cassette courses are
section 60, NCIH courses are section 68, and two-way interactive video courses are sections 67 and 67L.
If you are a new student entering Gaston College, follow the on-campus registration procedure on the
designated registration days stated in the college catalog and semester course schedules.
Special Notes: If you are currently enrolled in another college, you must have written permission from
your college to take this course for transfer credit. See your Guidance Counselor or Registrar for the
proper form.

Successfully complete placement testing which is required by all colleges. The COMPASS test is
scheduled through Gaston College Admissions 704-922-6214. This test measures reading, writing,
and math abilities, measuring benchmark scores in these areas.
Community colleges in North Carolina use either the ASSET or COMPASS test. The test can be
taken at your local community college. Contact your community college to schedule to take either
test. Ask that a copy of your scores be sent to the Gaston College Admissions Office at the address
listed above, or fax it to Admissions at 704-922-6233. Note: If either of these tests have been taken
in the last 5 years, or have already taken a college level Math or English course, call the Admissions
Office at 704-922-6214 for a possible exemption from taking the placement test.
Specific Requirements
- Complete an Interview with the EMS Department (704-922-6249)
- NREMT-P prior to completion of the EMS bridging program
- Current NC Paramedic Certification, must submit test scores, EMS continuing education
records, current Basic Life Support CPR certification*, current ACLS provider*, current
PALS provider*, BTLS or PHTLS course* (copies of certification cards and continuing
education records during the current certification period must be submitted to the

- Current or past affiliation with an ALS system as evidenced by the signature of the director
of the EMS agency with which the paramedic is affiliated.
* Copies of all current certifications must be on file in the EMS department at Gaston College. If you do not have current provider cards you must show proof of education in equivalent content within last two years.
