Gaston College offers a wide range of quality academic programs. We offer an array of associate degrees (2-year), certificates (1 year) and diplomas (<1 year) in health sciences, business, information technology, engineering technology, industrial technology, and liberal arts & sciences (transfer programs).

Arts
and
Sciences
About the Division
The purpose of the Arts and Sciences Division of Gaston College is to provide quality instructional opportunities in college parallel programs for students who intend to transfer to senior institutions and to provide support of technical and occupational program curriculums. The division serves as a community resource and promotes academic articulation with public/private schools, business/industry, and senior institutions.
The Liberal Arts and Sciences Division offers a wide range of courses. Among these are art, criminal justice technology, early childhood education, English, foreign languages, humanities, mathematics, music, the natural sciences, paralegal technology, and the social sciences.
Students may enroll in a two-year sequence and earn the Associate of Arts Degree, the Associate of Fine Arts Degree, Associate of General Education, or the Associate of Science Degree. These courses can be easily transferred to a four-year college or university. The division also offers two-year degrees in Criminal Justice Technology, Early Childhood Associate, and Paralegal Technology.
Students not interested in pursuing a degree may enroll in courses for personal growth and fulfillment.

Business and Information Technology
About the Division
The purpose of the Business area is to provide innovative quality instruction and support services in its programs, to promote and provide cooperative educational programs and positive relations with external agencies, businesses, and industries.
The Information Technology program at Gaston College offers four Associate of Applied Science Degree programs and one Certificate program. Our two newest degree programs are in Internet Technologies and a concentration of Network Administration and Support within our Information Systems degree. Health Sciences
About the Division
The purpose of the Health area is to promote wellness and health education programs, to assure competency - based nursing and allied health programs, to provide quality instruction and educational programs, to produce graduates who will perform professionally in the community, to foster positive relationships with public and private schools, and to promote positive working relationships with area health care facilities.

Industrial and Engineering Technology
About the Division
The Engineering Technologies programs of Gaston College provide quality training and learning experiences to students who wish to major in Civil, Computer, Mechanical, or Electronics Industrial Engineering Technology. Students in the Engineering Technologies programs may decide to pursue their B.S.E.T. degrees at UNCC or other senior institutions after graduation. Courses are offered both during the day and at night for all the programs except Civil Engineering Technology, which is offered only during the day.
The mission of the Industrial Technologies programs is to provide training to prepare students to enter the workforce with up-to-date technical knowledge and skills and to continually upgrade and retrain the existing workforce to meet the changing needs of our industries. Classes are offered in the certificate, diploma, and associate degree programs in day and evening classes.
