Dietetic Technician
Associate in Applied Science Degree

The Dietetic Technician Program prepares individuals to promote optimal health through proper nutrition by providing personalized services to meet client’s needs, and ensure balanced diets. Dietetic Technicians work under the supervision of a registered, licensed dietitian. Graduates of the program are eligible for the national registration examination for Dietetic Technicians.
The Dietetic Technician Program at Gaston College received Developmental Accreditation April 20, 2001 from the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE). Program Mission Statement:
The mission of the Dietetic Technician Program is to provide the state of North Carolina with high quality graduates and to communicate the practice of up-to-date nutrition information to the citizens of the state of North Carolina .
Program Goals:
- 1. Graduates of the Dietetic Technician Program will demonstrate the basic knowledge and skills required to be a safe, entry level DTR.
- 2. Graduates of the Dietetic Technician Program will be satisfied with their instruction.
- 3. Graduates of the Dietetic Technician Program will be employed in the field.

Dietary Managers Program
The Dietary Managers Program prepares individuals to be a trained foodservice professional. Dietary Managers specialize in cost containment programs, supervise staff, develop and maintain high levels of sanitation and partner with the Registered Dietitian to understand and meet the basic nutritional needs of clients. Upon completion of all course requirements graduates are eligible to take the national Certified Dietary Managers exam.
The Gaston College Dietary Managers Program received full accreditation in December 1999. It is accreditated by the Dietary Managers Association.
