Congratulations to:
A variety of courses via distance education are offered throughout the year at Gaston College. Many of these courses are completely accessible via the internet to the Blackboard course management system (online courses), some utilize Blackboard for more than 50% of the course, others are in a traditional setting on campus (hybrid and web-assisted courses), or are courses that use the Blackboard system to supplement the traditional course. In Fall 2008, 5,837 students participated in 246 online & hybrid courses compared to Fall 2009 with 352 online & hybrid courses with 8,428 duplicated student enrollment. That’s a growth of 43% in courses and 44% growth in duplicated headcount for these courses. To meet the needs of the business student, the Business Fast-Track program is designed to allow evening students to complete a degree in two (2) years. Also, courses are offered on the Gaston College Video Network to/from the Lincoln Campus. Much appreciation goes to Kim Gelsinger, Director of Distance Education, Diane Ward, Distance Education Specialist and faculty members for their expertise and contributions to this program.
