New and Enhanced Business and Information Technology Programs at Gaston College

Data Analytics & Database Management is a new state-of-the art program being offered now at Gaston College.

This two-year program will train students to implement, support, manage, and analyze industry-standard database systems. These skills will help prepare program graduates for employment with

companies or organizations that use database management system software to process, manage, analyze, synthesize, and communicate information.

Students will learn in-demand programming languages, tools and methods that include:

  • Terminology and design
  • Database administration and programming
  • Analytics, backup and recovery
  • Performance, tools and related topics
  • Project Management
  • Web Design
  • Mobile Application Development
  • Advanced Excel
  • Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Data Warehousing
  • Data Mining

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, an entry-level data analyst with a two-year Associate Degree and basic technical tools might make from $39,000 – $41,000 per year.

These programs will prepare students for employment within the Information Technology sector. Students that graduate from these programs may be eligible to sit for industry-recognized exams.

 MEDICAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATION:

  • Medical Office Administration General
  • Medical Office Billing and Coding
  • Medical Office Document Specialist
  • Information Technology Healthcare Informatics

These programs will prepare students for employment in the Healthcare facilities, offices and hospitals. Students that graduate from these programs may be eligible to sit for industry-recognized exams.

 OFFICE ADMINISTRATION:

  • Office Administration General
  • Office Administration Office Finance
  • Office Administration Office Software Specialist
  • Office Administration Legal Office

These programs will prepare students for employment in a variety of office positions in business, government, or industries. Students that graduate from the programs may be eligible to sit for industry-recognized exams.
