Implementing and Adapting UNC's Online Library Instruction Tutorial
Three years ago UNC-Chapel Hill created an online bibliographic instruction tutorial for their freshman english clases and
have implemented it with a high level of success. CPCC Library, due to an increasing number of students in the distance education
program, limited professional staff, and commitment to standardizing instruction among its six campuses, is adapting UNC's tutorial
to suit the community college library and will launch it in Fall 2004. Lisa Norberg from UNC will present how and why they
created the tutorial and its level of success. Erin Payton and Jonathan Carter will discuss the process of how they
modified it to use in a community college library, the issues and complications of adapting the tutorial, and how they plan
to market and launch it to faculty and students for Fall 2004.

ACRL LibQual
Only the end user can enhance service quality because only the user knows if the service meets his or her needs.
LibQUAL measures the users perceptions of service quality with a rigorously tested web-based survey.
The survey results can be used to improve services, argue for additional funding, and compare service
quality with peer institutions. This program will help community college librarians understand the
principles upon which LibQUAL is based, explore the type of data provided by the survey, and make a
decision on whether or not LibQUAL would be useful to their organization.

Forward This to Everyone You Know! Recognizing Email Hoaxes
This session will show how some information sent by email is false and misleading, but still believed.
Because this information often becomes part of popular culture and accepted as truth, it is important to evaluate
the information we receive in emails no matter who sends them. This is an extension of evaluating websites.
