Minimum Qualifications  Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution (with preparation in teaching and learning disciplines in adult education as required by the NC Board of Nursing) required. Master’s degree in nursing education from an accredited institution preferred. Must meet minimum SACS criteria and the minimum criteria of other pertinent accrediting, licensing, and credentialing agencies in the area of teaching assignment. Experience teaching college-level courses required. Two years full-time experience as a faculty member in an approved nursing program required. Two years full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse required. Unrestricted license to practice in North Carolina or compact state required. Demonstration of leadership, communication, team building, time management, and organizational skills required. Experience in implementation of new curriculum and initial NLN accreditation preferred. Job Description  A faculty member (full-time) is a college employee whose primary assignment involves teaching or the direct support of teaching. The position of faculty member (full-time) is a demanding one that involves delivery of instruction, preparation and evaluation of such instruction, accessibility to students, committee assignments, and service to college and community. Teach day and evening classes at multiple sites through multiple modes as required. The department chair for the associate degree nursing program has responsibility for the day-to-day leadership in all aspects of the program, as well as program, curriculum, and faculty development. The chair is also responsible for the course schedule, faculty assignments, evaluations, clinical site negotiations, and program accreditation. The department chair is assigned teaching responsibilities that allow sufficient time to administer the associate degree program.
