Training at Gaston College is provided through a partnership with Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, Hudson, NC. CCC&TI started training drivers in 1990 with one truck and a few students. Today they have over 70 pieces of equipment and have graduated over 2,000 CDL drivers in the past 10 years. At present Gaston College offers only full-time day classes requiring 8.5 weeks to complete.

The total cost for tuition and fees is $1881.00 payable to CCC&TI at registration. CCC&TI accepts most all forms of payment. (However, when registering at any location other than CCC&TI in Hudson; personal check, cashier’s check or money orders are preferred. Credit cards cannot be accepted unless personally taken to the business office at CCC&TI in Hudson, NC or pay online.)

Bring an authorization voucher or letter of intent if ESC, TAA, or WIA is paying for you.

Note: All students must have a NC driver’s license and be able to obtain a NC permit to qualify for the program.

Tuition is set by the North Carolina Legislature. Tuition and fees are subject to change without notice.

Note: A Medical Card and Long Form Physical will be issued to you at the time you take the DOT Physical. The Medical card is good for a maximum of 2 years to a minimum of 3 months (1 year required to enroll). Make sure the card is filled out completely and accurately with no corrections made on the card. Your medical card and a copy of your driver’s license will be faxed to DMV in Raleigh on the first day of class. Approval will be entered into the DMV data base before you will be allowed to take the tests for your CDL permit at your local DMV.
