The Criminal Justice Academy is dedicated to providing professional training to the regional criminal justice community that includes law enforcement, civil process, detention, and animal control. Our in-service training courses are designed to facilitate the mandated training requirements for criminal justice personnel, state certification and recertification programs, and advanced specialized training. 

 

1. State Mandated In-Service Training Courses

LAW ENFORCEMENT:

Firearms Training and Qualification, Legal Update, Juvenile Minority Sensitivity   Training: Juvenile Law in the Real World, Career Survival: Training & Standards Issues, Domestic Violence, and Drug Diversion for Patrol Officers.

TELECOMMUNICATOR:

Professionalism in Emergency Services, Dealing with the Mentally Ill, Community, and School and Campus Safety Issues for Telecommunicators.

 

2. In-Service Training Course - Topics of Choice

LAW ENFORCEMENT:

Law Enforcement Driver Training (Classroom), Law Enforcement Driver Training (Practical), Drug Diversion for Investigators, Examining False Identification Documents, and Robbery Investigation for Patrol Officers.

TELECOMMUNICATOR:

Teamwork in the Communications Center, Courtroom Demeanor, and Testimony for Telecommunicators.         

 

3. Certification/Recertification Courses

Radar Operator, Time-Distance Operator, Radar/Time-Distance Operator, Chemical Analyst Certification, Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), Detention Officer Certification, General Instructor Training, and Animal Control Officer Basic Training.

 4. Specialized Training Courses, such as:

First Line Supervision, Comprehensive Roadside Interdiction, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Rapid Deployment: Immediate Response to an Active Shooter, Law Enforcement Driving, SWAT Training, Patrol Rifle, Advanced Patrol Rifle, High-Risk Warrant Service, Firearm Skills for Female Officers, PRISim (Simulator) Use of Force Training, TASER Training, Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) Aerosol Spray, School Resource Officer Training, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT).
