Stephen D. Campbell Chairman

A native of Roanoke, VA., he received his BS degree in economics from the University of Richmond, and an MBA from Vanderbilt University. He is currently employed with a financial services firm as a financial advisor.

Sheriff Alan Cloninger
Appointed by: Governor
Term ends: 2014
A lifelong resident of Gaston County, he received an AS degree from Gaston College, a BS degree from UNCC in Criminal Justice, and a JD from Campbell University School of Law. He currently serves as sheriff of Gaston County.

David Ronald "Ron" Hovis

Term ends: 2015
A resident of Cherryville, he worked at Carolina Freight as an Account Representative until retirement. He served on the Gaston County Board of Education for eight years and currently serves on the Cherryville City Council.

Tom Keigher

Born and raised in New Jersey, he received a BA from Belmont Abbey College, and currently is a partner with a local financial group. He also serves as a member of the Gaston County Board of Commissioners.

A graduate of Marshall University, with a BS in Business, and an MBA from the University of Richmond, he is a retired newspaper publisher, and an active volunteer in the community.

A native of Gaston County, she received a BS degree from Livingstone College, and an MS degree in English from Winthrop University. She is employed with the local school system as Director of Languages.

Raised in Lynchburg, VA, he received a BA from the University of Virginia, a JD – University of SC, and an MBA and Ph.D. from the University of Houston. Currently, he is a professor of business management and practicing attorney in Gastonia.

Ray Ratchford

A graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College with a BA in history and a minor in Economics, he was the East Coast Manager for Reading Rock Corporation. Currently, he volunteers with East Lincoln Christian Ministeries and works part-time in his son's business.

Born and raised in Gastonia, NC, he graduated with the first class at Gaston College and received a BS in Accounting from UNCC. He is currently the CFO with a nonprofit organization in Gastonia.

George William "Bill" Sudyk

A graduate of The Citadel with a BA in Political Science, and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU; he is a retired major in US Air Force Reserves. He is employed as a banker with a major financial institution, and an active volunteer in the community.

Born and raised in Statesville, NC, he is a graduate of NC State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He retired after careers in telecommunications, sales, and marketing.

Dr. Jim Watson

Born in North Wilkesboro, NC, he received his Ph.D. from UNC-Charlotte, retired as superintendent of Lincoln County Schools, and is currently employed as a college professor at UNCC.

Dan Wilson

A native of Gastonia, NC, and a graduate of Gaston College and Belmont Abbey College, he retired as EVP/CFO from a local textile manufacturing company, and currently owns a CPA firm in Cramerton, NC.

Darren Stewart

Raised in Bessemer City, NC, he is a graduate of Bessemer City High School, a retired U.S. Marine Corp Infantryman, and currently serves as President of the SGA and the Minority Male Mentoring programs.

The Board meets in the Myers Center Board Room the fourth Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
