Accreditations

Gaston College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097, 404-679-4501 to award associate degrees.

General Information

Four engineering technology curricula are accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. ABET is recognized by the National Commission of Accrediting as the appropriate accrediting agency for the accreditation of engineering technology curricula.

• The Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing Programs are approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

• The Dietary Managers Program received accreditation in December 1999 by the Dietary Managers Association.

• The Dietetic Technician Program received Developmental Accreditation April 20, 2001 from the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education (CADE). CADE is the accrediting agency for the American Dietetic Association (ADA).

• The Department for EMS Education is accredited and fully approved by the North Carolina Office of EMS as and Advanced EMS Education Institution and demonstrated that it meets and exceeds all criteria and standards to provide EMS programs as defined by the North Carolina Medical Care Commission.

• The Medical Assisting Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), on recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation for Medical Assistant Education, also known as The Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants' Endowment (AAMAE).

• The Nursing Assistant I class is approved by the North Carolina Division of Facility Services, and the Nursing Assistant II
  class is approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. • The Therapeutic Massage Program is approved by the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy.

• The Veterinary Medical Technology Program has full accreditation status with the CVTEA (Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities) since 1997.
